Position Summary

Hourly Wage Range: $24-$25/hr

The Class A CDL Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of dump trucks to transport materials such as asphalt, aggregate, sand, and dirt to and from job sites. This role involves driving and maneuvering trucks, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring timely delivery while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. Truck drivers may also be responsible for hauling equipment on trailers from job to job. Occasionally, the need to operate other heavy equipment is required to support the completion of road building projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate dump trucks to transport materials such as asphalt, gravel, sand, and other aggregates to and from job sites.
  • Secure loads using chains, binders, and other appropriate methods to ensure safe transport.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Haul equipment on trailers from job to job as needed.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and materials transported.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, site supervisors, and other team members to coordinate transportation schedules.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the operation of commercial vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and trailers as needed.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of the truck.
  • Operate other heavy equipment as needed to support road building projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must Have a Valid driver’s license, Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current Class A CDL, air brakes, tanker, hazardous material endorsements and DOT certification, if required.
  • Strong knowledge of load securement techniques and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate and maneuver large trucks in various conditions.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and adapt to schedule changes as needed.

Working Hours and Shifts:

  • This is a Full-time Seasonal Position, working April through November (weather permitting).
  • Average work days are typically 12-14 hours, requiring overtime and working occasional Saturdays.
  • Travel is required throughout the region, with occasional overnight stays compensated.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Pre-employment drug test and physical required.
  • Adherence to company attendance policies to ensure consistent performance.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with co-workers, customers, and the public.
