Position Summary

Hourly Wage Rate: $19.50-$20.40/hr

The Flagger is responsible for directing traffic safely through construction zones and ensuring the safety of workers and the public. This role involves using hand signals, signs, and other communication methods to control traffic flow and maintain a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct traffic through construction zones using hand signals, signs, and other communication methods.
  • Communicate effectively with other flaggers and construction crew members to coordinate traffic control.
  • Set up and take down traffic control signs, cones, and barricades.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and adjust signals and signs as needed to ensure safety.
  • Maintain awareness of the construction zone and surroundings to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of workers and the public.
  • Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
  • Perform general labor duties as assigned, including site cleanup and assisting other crew members.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with co-workers, customers, and the public.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond quickly to changing conditions.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Previous experience in traffic control or construction is a plus but not required.

Working Hours and Shifts:

  • Part-time Seasonal Position, working April through November (weather permitting).
  • Average work days are typically 12-14 hours, requiring overtime and working occasional Saturdays.
  • Travel is required throughout the region, with occasional overnight stays compensated.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license is preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Pre-employment drug test and physical required.
  • Adherence to company attendance policies to ensure consistent performance.
  • Compliance with all industry regulations and safety standards.
