Position Summary

Hourly Wage Range: $28-$31/hr

The Heavy Equipment Hauler is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy machinery and equipment to and from job sites. This role involves operating specialized trucks and trailers, securing loads, and ensuring timely delivery while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. Occasionally, the need to operate other heavy equipment is required to support the completion of road building projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport heavy equipment such as pavers, rollers, excavators, asphalt milling machines, etc., to various job sites.
  • Operate and maneuver trucks and trailers designed for hauling heavy equipment.
  • Secure loads using chains, binders, and other appropriate methods to ensure safe transport.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and equipment transported.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, site supervisors, and other team members to coordinate transportation schedules.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the transportation of heavy equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and trailers as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for heavy equipment hauling.
  • Preferred Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in heavy equipment transportation.
  • Strong knowledge of load securement techniques and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate and maneuver large trucks and trailers in various conditions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and adapt to schedule changes as needed.

Working Hours and Shifts:

  • This is a Full-time Seasonal Position, working April through November (weather permitting).
  • Average work days are typically 12-14 hours, requiring overtime and working occasional Saturdays.
  • Travel is required throughout the region, with occasional overnight stays compensated.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with Class A CDL.
  • Pre-employment drug test and physical required.
  • Adherence to company attendance policies to ensure consistent performance.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with co-workers, customers, and the public.
  • Compliance with all industry regulations and safety standards.
